Government Grant Writer / Project Analyst

If you are comfortable working with corporate executives or high level government officials, we want you. Ability to write and prepare grants, while accurately filling out detailed applications, which may include developing proposals & detailed reports. The research will be related to many aspects such as, Schools, Universities, Utility Companies, Airlines, Subways, including Power Plants.

The emphasis on grant research will be specifically related to Safety and Security with our Visual Information solutions. In addition, the Grant Writer serves as the main fundraising contact for the collection of funds for each project.

PRINCIPAL PERFORMANCE GOALS:

With the strategic guidance by the CRS Team, the Grant Writer will secure support from Corporations, Foundations, and grant-making Government Agencies for the collection of project funding, including special projects. Additionally, the
Grant Writer works in collaboration with management and program staff to achieve resource development goals.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct research, develop and identify foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities; maintain and organize grants calendar.

2. Help devise fundraising strategies for special projects as they are announced. Meet with appropriate government staff to gather information and schedule assignments.

3. Discuss funding opportunities with management and assists in making determination of what opportunities will be pursued, how much will be requested, and what programs CRS will propose to the prospective funders.

4. Write and compile proposals, letters, and other documentation necessary to apply for grants. Work in collaboration with program staff and management during the grant proposal development phase. Ensure that all proposals are submitted before the deadlines.

5. Prepare grant budgets, and secure budget approval from the program staff and management. Secure all necessary attachments, letters of support, and additional documentation to accompany proposals.

6. Maintain a database and calendar of all prospective funders including deadlines for proposal submissions and reports.

7. Acquire and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of CRS’s products and services, which relate to current and potential programs, of the impact of these programs, and of the needs of people and constituents served by CRS.

8. Write and/or assist in writing reports to funders, while ensuring that all reports are submitted in a timely manner.

9. Track all requests and ensures that appropriate follow-up is conducted. Prepare for site visits. Maintain all grant files. Ensure that all grants received are appropriately acknowledged.

10. Develop relationships with government, foundation, and corporate representatives. Assist and coordinate the activities of the President, Principals and staff in the solicitation and stewardship of grant donors.

11. Stay informed of significant trends in government, foundation, and corporate funding, and of specific priorities and activities of current and prospective funders.

12. Write other fundraising and communications material, as requested. Assist in other fundraising activities.

13. Other duties may be assigned as required

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two – Five years of grants development experience for profit organizations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Excellent research skills, including Internet research skills.
  • The ability to manage and coordinate many projects simultaneously. Flexibility and creativity.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, goals and priorities of the CRS organization.
  • Ability to work effectively with men and women of diverse races, ages and ethnicities

Requirements:

Must be very comfortable with talking to government officials and mid to upper corporate level managers, as well as working through the red-tape with state and local government organizations. Some sales experience is preferred. Need to have knowledge of finances and billing.
